Do you have value to give to others? If your mind shouted out “yes, of course” then I applaud you for truly knowing yourself. If you’re one of the majority of people who could benefit from better self esteem, your inner voice may not have been so kind. If you’re in group 2 we need to talk…..
One of the most important components of creating success in life is the ability and desire to add value to the lives of others. Jim Rohn stated this elegantly when he said, “Only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have”.
Most of us are good at heart, and have a desire to give to others and to the world. But far too many of us are sabotaged by limiting beliefs telling us that we’re “not good enough”, maybe even worthless. I know this because for most of my life I’ve suffered from this delusion. Turns out that in my case it simply was not true, and I guarantee that in your case it’s not true either.
Believe me, once you begin to reject the fear, doubt, and insecurity that you’ve been conditioned to accept as real, you’ll begin to create better self esteem and the world around you will start to look a whole lot better and full of hope. As you experience personal growth and change the negative programs that you’ve learned to accept, you’ll be able to start living and giving in a more meaningful way.
It doesn’t matter if you’re wealthy beyond imagination or struggling to get by, have a genius IQ or suffer from learning disabilities; in fact your personal situation and circumstances play no role in your ability to give to others. You are worth much more than you care to acknowledge.
Consider for example your eyes. If someone were to offer you one million dollars for your eyes, would you accept the offer? How about your arms? Your legs? You probably get the point. If you agree that you could never place a price on your physical features, it only makes sense to take it a step further and realize that you are of tremendous value. This kind of realization can be the first step in developing better self esteem.
And that’s only the physical part of your being. When you consider the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual aspects – which really define you, it’s obvious that you are of infinite value.
Think about your family and friends. Is there anything in the world that they would trade for your love and friendship? If they were to lose you, is there anything that could make it alright?
Once you start to get that you’re priceless, you’ll begin to understand that your worth is unlimited. With this mindset it’s easy to recognize that you have infinite value to give to others. For some it’s knowledge and experience, for others it’s a caring heart or a warm smile. There are millions of ways to give to others.
Whatever it is that you have to offer, you first need to know it’s there. It may be buried deep inside you, but it is there! Your job is to discover it, develop it, and share it with the world. This may not happen overnight. For many it becomes a journey of personal growth and change that may be difficult but is always rewarding. Only good can come to those you touch every day, to the world we all share, and to you.
