Looking for a competitive edge that will catapult you to incredible success in 2010 and beyond? Yes? Then do yourself a favor and read The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson.
I’ve read many motivational and inspirational books in my day, but none that have directly impacted my life and business as dramatically as this short, easy read.
What better time to take stock of the level of success that you’ve achieved, and to discover strategies that will help you create a proven competitive edge in all that you do? As we leave 2009 in the dust and venture into a new decade, are you ready to seize each and every moment, discover the true secrets to success, and create the changes in your life that will bring you the abundance and joy that you deserve?
I guarantee that The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson will put you on the right path.
Check out a few of my favorite quotes from the book:
“The right choices and the wrong choices you make at the moment will have little or no noticeable impact on how your day goes for you. Nor tomorrow, nor the next day. No applause, no cheers, no screams, no life of death results played out in Technicolor. But it is precisely those very same, undramatic, seemingly insignificant actions that, when compounded over time, will dramatically affect how your life turns out.”
“It’s easy to do. And it’s easy not to do. And if you don’t do it, it won’t kill you or destroy your chances for success today. But that simple error in judgement, compounded over time, will kill your chances for success. It will take you down and out of your life forever. And that choice is always yours.”
“If I stay on this road long enough, I’ll get the result I seek. It’s not a question of your mood, your feelings or your attitude. And it’s not a question of will power. It’s a question of simply knowing.”
And…..my favorite:
“Gigantic funerals are held and great crowds, sometimes entire nations, mourn for those people who spent their lives not worrying about what others thought.”
The Slight Edge, by Jeff Olson

Hey Kathy
Thanks for the share on this book. It is so true, the small choices we make today have mega-impact on our tomorrow whether we realize it or not. This certainly makes the small choices seem much more significant. This is a time of year when we all reflect on those choices from the prior year and how they have impacted us and then we begin looking ahead to the coming year. Some people make resolutions, but I don’t. I find that resolutions (as we know them) often fade into the background of life shortly after the New Year’s Eve party hats disappear. I choose to create new goals for myself each year…goals that are specific, measurable, and have a time frame for accomplishing them. It seems to work for me.
Again thanks for the share !
Making right choices today for a better tomorrow!

I am so glad I stopped by:)
When I read the first favorite quote you mentioned it immediately reminded me how not only do choices along the way affect how your life turns out, it is something that defines and develops the inner you. Choose carefully, right?
Thanks for the review

Kathy,
The Slight Edge is a great book for putting things in perspective
as for as the big picture is concerned. This is where we need to
operate anyway. Keeping in the details will only get you stuck
in the mud.
There needs to be a balance between working and getting things
done and keeping an eye on the vision. the stories outlined in Jeff’s
Book really speaks to me on these issues. Thanks for sharing your
passion and vision.

Hi Kathy
I just LOVE this book! I recommend it to everyone (where relevant, of course!) and have read it at least 6 times already. I love how easy to read and commonsense it is.
It has had such a big impact on me since the first time I read it.
I did a blog post on this about a year ago, however, due to quite a few technical problems (grrr), I lost it and will have to write it all again (not that it will be hard to do, it’s just a nuisance). I will now move redoing that post closer to the top of my list than it currently is
… so much to do! lol

Thanks for the review, I will definitely be checking out this book!
The story you shared about choosing a million dollars or a penny doubled for 31 days is a very powerful example ~ we use it in business to explain the power of residual income and it really seems to resonate with people. You actually just inspired a video for my 30 Day Challenge, thank you!
Thanks again fro this recommendation!

You just gave me another book to add to my “have to read list” between the penny story and Albert Einstein’s quote “The most powerful force in the universe is compound interest”, there is no way that I won’t read the book.
It fits so well into what we do on a daily basis. Like they say we should be judged by our actions…
Thanks a bunch and keep it coming!

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for sharing your #1 book recommendation with the community. It’s so true, most of us are not entirely conscious of the choices we make as well as their future impact.
I think conscious choice making, even the smallest of choices such as what we are going to eat for breakfast, have a long lasting and profound result over time on our lives.
This forces us to think before we act in each and every moment so we can create better “karma” for ourselves and improve our quality of living. Thanks again for the share!
